Montecristi Itinerary:
This trip is a circuit tour to introduce you to the far northwest corner of the Dominican Republic, the closest point to Cuba. Planning your trip with our two resident PCVs, you can arrive in the afternoon after the reunion, hike "el Morito" and swim at the stunning Playa behind El Morro in Parque Nacional de Montecristi, then have an oceanside sunset dinner at the Restaurant Cocomar. Stay at a nice beachfront hotel.
The next day you can take a boat and snorkel tour of the mangroves and Isla Cabra with our Dominican tour guide.
Our guide, Soraya, can also lead you on a tour of the historical district of Montecristi, including the Maximo Gomez house. In the month of February, the historical and unspoiled by commercialism carnival de Montecritis will be in full swing. Prepare to witness the emasked street battles between Los Toros y Los Civiles that are par of an over 470 year tradition.
