	Cibaenos one and all--travel to Santiago, Ruta de Cafe, and beyond Santiago has changed, but it remains charming, relaxing and with as active civic and cultural life, as ever. The beauty and obvious fertility of agricultural Cibao draws us in to sample coffee, dulces, and the ron that has been produced there for literally centuries. This visit will take you back to experience once more the pride of the Cibaeno...and for good reason. Santiago and Central Cibao Itinerary: One of our Board members, Steve Johnson, can help you arrange this tour as well as our volunteers. This independent tour will allow you to plan your trip to Santiago as is most convenient. There is excellent bus service to Santiago. Stroll Calle El Sol, visit the lovely Centro Leon with its exhibits, excellent Tobacco museo and very nice cafe, or travel to your site. With enough interest, Steve will lead a group post reunion. We can arrange for you to take the wonderful excursion Ruta de Cafe out into the Cibao. If you go post reunion, you might also plan your visit to rise early and join the North Coast group to 27 Waterfalls National Park, finding your own way back after lunch at the Park's Visitor Center. Bus travel is convenient from Santiago to many parts of the Dominica Republic. Hotels and restaurants are quality and reasonably priced. The area has many PC project sites and you may have an opportunity to visit a current CCF project as well as your own site. Costs and Details Tour Cost: Expected to be around $250 if you stay 2 nights We ask you to pre register so we can get a head count and coordinate travel. You will pay for travel, lodging, and excursions according to the arrangements you make with the organizer or on your own. Costs Bus transportation to Santiago Hotel with breakfast 27 Charcos National Park Admission will be waived for RPCVs and partners Centro Leon Ruta de Cafe excursion Meals not provided by excursion Incidentals Return bus to Santo Domingo Transportation to your site Tour Guide(s) Your tour expert is Steve Johnson, DR21. Steve worked at University Madre and Maestra and is a knowledgeable guide to contemporary Santiago. Current volunteers working in the region will help you with site visits. Your guides will also help you choose or prepare for the day's activities, find a nice restaurant and generally troubleshoot for you. Hotel: We will be posting information soon Transportation: Bus is easy and comfortable; car rental convenient Site visits: Your guide will help you arrange transportation to and from your site. Chosen excursions will include transportation in the excursion cost, such as Ruta de Cafe or 27 Waterfalls National Park.
