Southwest to Sierra de Bahoruco for birding and more

This is a very special opportunity to see some of the rare endemic birds of Hispaniola with Kate Wallace, RPCV and local guide.  Kate Wallace is an RPCV who served in Moncion, Cabral and runs Tody Tours, www.todytours.com.

You will stay two nights in Kate's camp of cabins near the Sierra de Bahoruco, called Rabo de Gato and your adventure will be based from there.

Itinerary

For this post conference two night trip to Sierra Bahoruco, Kate will arrange 4X4 rental transportation to and from the hotel.

Saturday, Meet in Jarragua lobby, drive to camp Rabo de Gato, walk a trail, share a meal in camp.

Sunday, February 12:  Breakfast, pack a lunch, and take an all day trip to the high mountains for endemic birds.  Supper back at camp.

Monday, February 13:  Breakfast and leave before lunch to return to the capital with lunch at Pollo Rey in Bani along the way.  You should be back by 2PM.

Costs and Details 

Tour Cost:  Expected to be less than $200 per person all inclusive. We require a minimum deposit of $50 with full payment made after all arrangements are in place and minimum partipation level is ensured.

Costs include

  • 4 wheel drive vehicle rental for 4 or alternative for more
  • 2 nights in a 2 person cabin at Rabo de Gato
  • Kate's expert guide service
  • Meals at camp

Costs do not include 

  • Meals not provided by Rato de Gato
  • Incidentals

Tour Guide(s)

 
Your tour will be led by Kate Wallace, RPCV, Tody Tours

Lodging:  Rabo de Gato Camp Cabins

Transportation:  4X4 rentals

Minimum Participation required:  4 with Kate as driver, an additional 5 if a participant can drive.

Bring:  water bottles, bug spray, suntan lotion, hat, hiking shoes, apparel, etc!
