Especially for Current Volunteers -- detailed information about the Fund and FDR's request process:
Background: The Friends of the Dominican Republic (FDR), is an association of DR Returned Peace Corps Volunteers, staff and current Volunteers. The Program Support Fund (PSF) has been created specifically to support initiatives that will increase Peace Corps Dominican Republic’s capacity to develop and deliver programs which affect the Strategic Plan sectors. PSF provides equipment, software, and other special items or education to assist PCVs and Dominican organizations to be more efficient and effective and to enhance and amplify their efforts. The purpose of the PSF is to provide for items and programs which cannot be funded by normal sources and processes.
Overall Grant Amount: Variable depending on project need and fund availability.
Grant Due Date: Rolling Application Process, with rapid turnaround times.
Application Process: Apply to the Director requesting that an item be added to the “Needs List” for FDR. If requesting assistance for part of a large project, then copies of the standard application forms to the Peace Corps Partnership Program (PCPP) can be included to apply for PSF assistance The Needs List is sent to the FDR President.
Donations and dues are critical to the sustainability of the PSF, so PCVs must provide “in process” and completion photos and written reports and testimonials describing the process and results of project activities. This information will be used to communicate results to FDR members, donors (and potential donors) to the Fund via the FDR web site, Cyber News, and printed newsletters.
Limitations: To be considered for funding, items and projects must be on the Director’s Needs List.
Program Areas: The goal of the PSF is to allocate first to items used by PCVs that affect general office use or broad sectors such as Water/sanitation, Health, Education, and IT, such as tools, equipment and software. Parts of broad sectoral or cross-sectoral projects will also be considered. PSF does not support individual PCV projects. The objective is to provide a source of funds to support items and projects that might not otherwise be available.
